⭐ Why in News

Angola is emerging as a key alternative source of natural gas for India, reducing

dependence on West Asia.


⭐ Location & Boundaries

• Located on the southwestern coast

of Africa along the Atlantic Ocean.

• Shares borders with:

• Republic of the Congo (northwest)

• Democratic Republic of the Congo

(north & northeast)

• Zambia (southeast)

• Namibia (south)

• Also has a maritime boundary

along the Atlantic Ocean.

• Luanda


⭐ Major Rivers

• Important rivers:

• Cuango River

• Cuanza River

• Calandula Falls (on the Lucala River):

• Largest waterfall in Angola

• Mount Moco – highest point in Angola

⭐ INS Sunayna


⭐ Why in News

The Indian Navy’s offshore patrol vessel INS Sunayna has recently reached Malé

(Maldives).


⭐ Classification & Type

• INS Sunayna is the second offshore patrol vessel of the Saryu-class in the

Indian Navy.


⭐ Design & Construction

• The ship has been indigenously designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited.


⭐ Commissioning & Command

• Commissioned on 15 October 2013 at Kochi.

• Operates under the Southern Naval Command.


⭐ Functions & Roles

• Designed for multiple operational roles, including:

• Fleet support operations

• Coastal and offshore patrolling

• Maritime surveillance

• Plays a role in:

• Monitoring Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs)

• Protecting offshore assets


⭐ Propulsion & Speed

• Powered by two diesel engines.

• Can achieve speeds of over 25 knots.

⭐ Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY)


⭐ Why in News

The scheme has completed 11 years since its launch, highlighting its role in

supporting micro and small entrepreneurs across India.


⭐ Launch & Nature

• Launched on April 8, 2015.

• A flagship scheme of the Government of India aimed at providing financial

support to non-corporate, non-farm micro and small enterprises.


⭐ Eligibility & Coverage

• Any Indian citizen with a viable business plan for non-farm income-generating

activities can avail loans.

• Covers sectors such as:

• Manufacturing

• Processing

• Trading

• Services


⭐ Loan Categories

• Loans are classified into four categories based on funding needs:

• Shishu: Up to ₹50,000

• Kishor: ₹50,000 to ₹5 lakh

• Tarun: ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh

• Tarun Plus: ₹10 lakh to ₹20 lakh


⭐ Scope of Financing

• Provides both:

• Term loans
