• Hutti Gold Mines Company Limited (HGML) is a Karnataka Government

undertaking established in 1947.

• It is the only producer of primary gold in India.

gold deposits in Karnataka.

• Its headquarters are located in Bengaluru.

• HGML processes ore from the Hutti Gold Mine along with two satellite mines:

• Uti opencast mine

• Heera-Buddinni underground exploratory mine


🏺 Historical Importance

• The Hutti mine is considered one of the oldest metal mines in the world and is

believed to date back to the pre-Ashokan period.

• The species is found across the narrow sub-Himalayan belt covering:

• Northern Bangladesh


🌲 Preferred Habitat
