 Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE)


 Why in News

• The Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE)

recently hosted a Global Symposium on Credit Guarantees.


 Establishment

• The trust was established in 2000.


 Objective

• To facilitate and promote access to institutional credit for micro and small

enterprises (MSEs).


 Institutional Setup

• Jointly set up by:

• Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)

• Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI)


 Funding Structure

• Corpus funded jointly by the Government of India and SIDBI.

• Contribution ratio maintained at 4:1 (GoI : SIDBI).


 Eligible Lending Institutions

• Includes:

• Scheduled commercial banks (public, private, and foreign banks)

• Select Regional Rural Banks (RRBs)

• Institutions like NSIC, NEDFi, and SIDBI

• Selected Small Finance Banks and NBFCs

 Cerium–Magnesium Changesite


 Why in News

• China has reported the discovery of a new lunar mineral called Cerium–

Magnesium Changesite.


 Nature and Classification

• It is a newly identified mineral from the Moon.

• Recognised as the 11th known lunar mineral.


 Source of Discovery

• Identified in a lunar meteorite named Pakepake 005.

• This meteorite is notable as the first of its kind found within China.


 Meteorite Characteristics

• The meteorite is a single spherical body weighing about 44 grams.

• It has a dark outer crust, formed due to melting during atmospheric entry.


 Mineral Properties

• The mineral is colourless, transparent, and brittle.

• It consists of extremely fine grains (3–25 micrometres).

• Most particles are smaller than 10 micrometres.


 Scientific Importance

• Despite its tiny size, it holds high scientific value.

• This is due to its unique chemical composition and structure.

 Mehar Baba Competition–3


 Why in News

• The Indian Air Force has launched

Mehar Baba Competition–3, with

registrations starting from 27 April 2026,

focusing on innovations in

drone-based radar systems.


 Nature of the Competition

• It is the third edition of a defence innovation challenge conducted by the Indian

Air Force.


 Background

• The Mehar Baba Competition series was first introduced in 2018.


 Theme

• This edition focuses on “Collaborative Drone-Based Surveillance Radars.”


 Aim

• To develop a proof of concept for a swarm of unmanned aerial systems (UAS)

functioning as airborne radar.

• These systems are designed to detect, track, and share real-time data on aerial

targets.


 Naming and Legacy

• Named after Air Commodore Mehar Singh, a pioneering aviator and recipient of

the Maha Vir Chakra.
