Maharishi Sushruta
News:
A bronze statue of Maharishi Sushruta, widely regarded as the Father of Surgery, has been unveiled at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, recognizing his unparalleled contributions to medical science.
About Maharishi Sushruta
Maharishi Sushruta was one of the greatest physicians and surgeons of
ancient India and is revered as the Father of Surgery as well as a pioneer of
Indian medicine.
He made groundbreaking contributions to Shalya Tantra (surgical science),
laying the foundation for several modern surgical practices.
Historians generally place him around the 6th century BCE, although
estimates range between 1000 BCE and 600 BCE.
According to tradition, he was a disciple of Lord Dhanvantari, the divine
physician and deity of Ayurveda.
He lived and taught medicine in Varanasi (Kashi).
Sushruta Samhita
Sushruta Samhita is Sushruta’s most celebrated work and one of the
foundational texts of Ayurveda.
It remains one of the earliest and most comprehensive treatises on surgery in
world history.

Comprises 184 chapters.
Describes over 300 surgical procedures.

Corporate Mitra Scheme
News:
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has announced the rollout of the Corporate Mitra Scheme, which will begin with 2,000 participants, including 200 candidates from the North-East, to strengthen support for MSMEs.
About the Corporate Mitra Scheme
The Corporate Mitra Scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2026–27.
It seeks to build a pool of trained and certified Corporate Mitras who will
provide affordable professional assistance to Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprises (MSMEs).
The scheme aims to improve MSMEs’ access to regulatory, financial, and
compliance-related services.
Objectives
Enhance the compliance capabilities of MSMEs.
Improve access to professional advisory and financial guidance.
Generate employment opportunities for youth through structured training and
certification.
Enable MSMEs to focus on business expansion and innovation while ensuring
statutory compliance.
Services Offered by Corporate Mitras
Corporate Mitras will assist MSMEs in areas such as:
Regulatory and legal compliance.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance.
Accounting and bookkeeping.

A rescued Chinese Pangolin and an Asian Palm Civet were recently released into the Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary in Meghalaya after successful rehabilitation.
About Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary
Nongkhyllem Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in Meghalaya,
forming part of the Eastern Himalayan Biodiversity Hotspot.
It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1981 under the Wildlife (Protection) Act,
1972.
The sanctuary plays a vital role in conserving the rich flora and fauna of
Northeast India.

Situated within the Eastern Himalayan Global Biodiversity Hotspot.
The sanctuary’s landscape is influenced by the Umtrew River and its tributaries.
