📰 Why in News

• On the occasion of Poila Boishakh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to

Rabindranath Tagore.


📖 About Rabindranath Tagore

• Rabindranath Tagore was born on 7 May 1861 in Calcutta.

• He was popularly known by titles such as ‘Gurudev’, ‘Kabiguru’, and ‘Biswakabi’.

• Tagore was a renowned poet, philosopher, musician, and litterateur who deeply

influenced Indian literature and culture.

• He shared a close association with Mahatma Gandhi and is credited with giving

Gandhi the title “Mahatma.”

• He delivered speeches at the World Parliament of Religions in 1929 and 1937.

• Tagore composed more than 2,000 songs, collectively known as “Rabindra

Sangeet.”


 Major Literary Contributions

• His famous literary works include Gitanjali, Gora, Ghare-Baire, Mansi, Balaka, and

Sonar Tori.

• He is also remembered for the inspirational song Ekla Chalo Re.

• Tagore composed the national anthems of both India and Bangladesh.


🎓 Educational and Intellectual Legacy

• In 1921, he founded Visva-Bharati University to promote a holistic and modern

approach to education.


🏅 Awards and Recognition

• Rabindranath Tagore received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for

Gitanjali.

• He became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

• In 1915, the British Crown conferred upon him the title of Knighthood.

• However, he renounced the honour in 1919 in protest against the Jallianwala

Bagh massacre.

10th Indian Ocean Dialogue

• The 10th Indian Ocean Dialogue was recently held in New Delhi under the theme

“Indian Ocean Region in a Transforming World.”

• India is currently serving as the Chair of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA)

for the period 2025–27.


🌐 Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA)


📌 Formation and Background

• IORA was established in March 1997 as an inter-governmental regional

organisation.

• Earlier, it was known as the Indian Ocean Rim Initiative and later as the Indian

Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation (IOR-ARC).

• The organisation aims to strengthen regional economic cooperation among

Indian Ocean countries.


👀 Observer Status

• IORA received observer status at both the United Nations General Assembly and

the African Union in 2015.


🤝 Membership

• IORA consists of 23 member countries, including India, Australia, Bangladesh,

Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Oman, Singapore, South

Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, UAE, and Yemen.


🌍 Dialogue Partners

• The organisation has 12 dialogue partners such as China, Egypt, the European

Union, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, the United

Kingdom, and the United States.

introduced the “One Case One Data”

initiative along with the “Su Sahay”

chatbot to improve judicial data

• “One Case One Data” is a major digital reform initiative designed to integrate

judicial information across different levels of the Indian court system.


🎯 Objective

• The initiative aims to strengthen judicial data coordination and provide citizens

with easier access to court services nationwide.


 Key Features


🏛 Unified Judicial Information System

• The platform will connect data from High Courts, district courts, and taluka

courts into a single integrated system.


🔄 Automated Data Access

• It will automate the retrieval of case-related information from databases

maintained by various courts.

• The system will also enable faster online verification of case details.
